April 2017 is shaping up to be one of the busiest political spring months we have ever seen in Deschutes County. After Buehler’s disappointing town hall, we can now focus on a town hall four years in the making featuring our very own missing Congressman Greg Walden. Congressman Walden will be at Mountain View High School Main Gym (2755 NE 27th Street) in Bend from 5pm-6pm on Thursday, April 13. If his one-hour telephone town hall is any indication, then we are looking at ten questions before he leaves town.
Thursday, April 13 is also the night of our regular Deschutes County monthly meeting at the Environmental Center (16 NW Kansas) in Bend. We normally start our social meet and greet at 6:30pm and the meeting at 7pm. Due to the Congressman’s visit, we will move the meeting to 7pm (meet and greet) and 7:30pm (business).
We have a lot of business to get done at our meeting from the appointment of a new Treasurer, to updates from candidates running in the May election, and the final meeting with Wayne Kinney before he retires and moves across the country.
Finally, Senator Wyden will be at Summit High School (2855 NW Clearwater Drive) on Monday, April 17 from 5pm-6:30pm. So, if you were not able to make it down to Sisters during his visit last month you now have another opportunity to hear from him and ask your questions.
Be sure to check out our Facebook page as events are popping up all the time. You don’t have to be on Facebook to read what is going on in Deschutes County. Looking forward to some big crowds for the town halls and to see everyone at our next meeting.
Finally, if you click here to donate it will help us raise funds for our May elections as well as our visibility campaign as we enter booth season in order to recruit more democrats to the party. Every bit helps!

May Elections are ramping up and we need some serious volunteer power. If you want to get involved, please email us at deschuteselections@yahoo.com. We are looking for canvassers, phone bankers, meet and greet hosts, data people, letter writers, and money donations for our slate cards. These races are sprints and our candidates will need as much help as we can give them!
Deschutes County Democratic Central Committee meets every 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm (meet and greet starts at 6:30) at the Central Oregon Environmental Center at 16 NW Kansas St. in Bend. Bring a friend to the next meeting!
